One of the turning points in my long struggle against man boobs came about 9 months ago in a busy Thai Restaurant. The story will already be familiar to my subscribers, but it’s worth retelling here as well.
On the night in question I had gone out for drinks and dinner with a big group of friends and acquaintances, including this one girl Sophie who I had developed a gigantic crush on and was hoping to get to know a lot better.
The night was going great until about halfway through our meal when one of my friends Jason got offended by something someone said to him. I don’t know if it was because I was sat opposite, or just because he just saw me as an easy target, but either way he decided to take his frustration out on me.
In this really loud, pissed-sounding voice he suddenly looked right at me and said:
“Dude, why don’t you do something about those man tits? You know what causes that? Too much oestrogen”
And oh man I almost died from humiliation and embarrassment. Everyone at the table went quiet and awkward. I looked over at Sophie and she had her head down, looking at the table cloth.
I went bright red with mortification, the rest of the evening passed as a blur and I got out of there as fast as possible.
Over the next few days I kept replaying the scene I my head, over and over. The pain of the memory was so strong that I made a promise to myself that I would never let something like that happen again. My desire to be free of man boobs suddenly became more intense than it had ever been before and I resolved to get myself into shape the very next day.
Ever since then, whenever I felt like I was losing my focus or getting discouraged all I had to do was think back to what happened and the motivation and burning desire would flood through me again.
Sometimes I wonder if I’d still maybe have my man boobs if Jason hadn’t said that to me!
I was reminded of this Thai Restaurant Incident at the weekend while watching the final round of the Masters Golf at Augusta. I’m not a great player myself, but I do enjoy watching the major tournaments, especially on the last day when you’re always guaranteed some drama and excitement.
Anyway, on this occasion there was an extra twist to proceedings because Tiger Woods was paired with his great rival Phil Mickelson. It’s never been any secret that the two dislike each other – not long ago Tiger’s caddie Steve Williams even went so far as to call Mickelson a “prick”. Then during the same interview, he then went on to relate the following anecdote which allegedly took place at last year’s US open at Torrey Pines
The two players were walking down the 17th fairway when, according to Williams, someone shouted “Phil” in Mickelson’s direction. The world No2 did not respond until the fan shouted “Hey, Mr Mickelson”. When Mickelson turned and waved, the fan yelled out “Nice tits”. The crowd erupted in laughter; Mickelson went double bogey, bogey and his chances of winning the tournament disappeared.
Ouch! That had to hurt. Now, whether or not this story is true or not – Mickelson denies it ever took place – and leaving aside the fact that Williams must be a complete asshole for talking like that in public, it can’t be denied that Phil’s moob problem had been pretty noticeable in recent years.

You’d think that walking 5 miles a day might keep a man’s man boobs in check wouldn’t you? But as we all know, it’s not exercise that counts but the right kind of exercise, something that Phil himself seems to realised. Take a look at him at this years Masters.

The guy is suddenly looking pretty ripped for his age. And those man moobs? All but disappeared. Aparently Phil revealed his workout to Men’s Vogue not long ago, but it seems you need to subscribe to access the article. But regardless of the fitness regime he has adopted, and it’s obviously paying dividends whatever it is, I can’t help wondering how much motivation he gets in the gym just from thinking on that alleged heckle and Williams’s mocking comments.
My guess would be a hell of a lot. You see, from my own experience in the Thai Restaurant I discovered that you can take negative energies, such as embarrassment and anger and channel them into positive desire, action and change.
So if your man boobs have caused you painful experiences, don’t shy away from them, embrace them, use them to get you fired up!
Get your motivation right and I guarantee you will already be half way to a moob free existence.

You are a GOD to me..your website is so great..Am one of those moobs victim..and only in the recent past i have realised that spot reduction wont work..I was all along doing bench press and other stuffs with little running..recently i have taken HIT into good action..and am really hoping and motivated it will work..You have done a really great job..whoever you are..am telling from my heart..you will get everything in your life..for such a wonderful thing you have done..I have been going through your website from yesterday and read all the articles atleast twice..
